Influence of art in cinema
Influence of art on cinema
Now that we saw different movements and different artists you may be able to recognize pieces of art in movies.
Many directors have integrated masterpieces into their movies and even got inspired by painting to create scenes.
Some references are obvious and some are a little less. But now that you are an expert you will quickly be aware of them.
One of my favourites is the reproduction by Stanley Kubrick of Vincent Van Gogh's painting" Prisoners exercising". On the left, we have the scene from the movie A Clockwork Orange (1971), and on the right the painting of Van Gogh.
Kubrick used the atmosphere of this painting to create a dehumanizing portrait of prisoners.
This may be less easy.
An artist that I particularly love, Francis Beacon paints the expressionism and surrealism movements.
Beacon, represented Pope Innocent X in 1949. This painting is inspired by the portrayal of Velazquez who represents a portrait of the Pope. Beacon re-interpreted it through a series of "screaming popes".
