In Which Movement Are We?
Hello Art Lover!!!
We are together today for the last part of our series, In Which Movement Are We?
Today we will see :
Expressionism: according to the Tate museum expressionism "refers to art in which the image of reality is distorted in order to make it expressive of the artist's inner feelings or ideas.
This movement appears through the 20th century, artists like Edward Much and Wassily Kandinsky are the masters of this movement.
Characteristics: Accentuation of the angles, loud colours and distorted perspective.
I choose two painting that looks nothing alike, if you look at them quickly you cannot say that comes from the same movement; But if you pay attention to the line and the perceptive you will understand the meaning behind this.

Cubism:
This movement emerged in the 20th century in Paris. This movement was led by two major actors Pablo Picasso and George Braque. With this new perspective in art, they wanted to show the world how he really was, not only as he seems.
The main point of this movement was to bring a different view on the fragmented world.
The best example of this movement and its meaning is Guernica painted by Pablo Picasso to show the reality behind the war and denounced the consequence it has on people's lives.
Characteristics: Multiple perspectives, geometric shapes and monochromatic colours.
To illustrate this movement I choose to show only one painting, due to its strong meaning.
As I explained before, this is Guernica by Pablo Picasso one of the most meaningful paintings of this movement.
Paint in 1937, it shows the massacre of a little village in Spain under the bomb of the German Air Force.Pop art: I hope you like this type of art because Wharol will be the subject of our next post!!!
The pop art movement emerged in the United Kingdom and the United States during the 20th century.
This movement changes the tradition of the previous movement. For that artists used collage techniques to include cultural objects.
This movement is easily recognizable by his characteristics which are: bright colours, Satire and Irony.
At the head of this movement, Andy Warhol used his imagination to express his perception of the world.
The Campbells soup cans represent familiar images of the consumer culture, something that you can find in your local Walmart. He represented 32 varieties of soup. He represents here the mass-produced culture. All the cans were represented alone, but when he finished the 32 he assembled them together and create a new technique. This is called a photo- silkscreen, he used this technique later with other images like the famous portrait of Marilyn Monroe. Wharol said: " I don't think art should be only for the select few, I think it should be for the mass of the American people"
