Women
Women
For centuries, women weren't able to paint in their own names. They had to hide and sign their painting with men's names.
Women like, Angelica Kauffman, who we saw previously, Rosa Bonheur, Sofonisba Anguissola and so much more helped to fight this discrimination and today women are a major part of the artistic world.
Indeed without women art world would be quite boring.

-Frida Kahlo, a major figure of feminism and art. She is a Mexican artist born in 1907. Since a young age, Khalo had always been a rebel. She fought gender norms by dressing as a boy and doing things that were prohibited for women, like wearing pants for example.
When she was a teenager, she met Diego Rivera and impressed by his work started painting. She was involved in a bus accident the same year, which had major sequels on her health until the end of her life. After this accident, her spine was severely impacted and she had to stay in bed for few months wearing a corset.
She, who used to be so energetic was extremely bored in this bed, so she started painting on it.
Once she was able to get up, she concentrate her time on painting. She mixed surrealism, modern art, cubism, magical realism, and symbolism.
